Abbie Werner James

Abbie Werner James is a writer, licensed behavior specialist, and nature enthusiast. She is the author of Autism and Appropriate Touch: A Photocopiable Resource for Helping Children and Teens on the Autism Spectrum Understand the Complexities of Physical Interaction, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers in 2015. Her short story “Salt and Pepper” won second place in the 2017 Central PA Magazine Writing Contest, and her short story “Strainers” was published in Owl Hollow Press’s anthology, Frontiers: Then, Now, and Beyond, in 2021. Now focused on writing for children, she is an SCBWI member and critique group leader. She works in youth services at a public library and recently accepted an offer from a small press to publish one of her middle grade novels in 2026.
